Location.
Le Prieuré is located in Chenehutte, France, within five kilometres of Bouvet Ladubay wine cellar and the Parish church at Cunault. The nearest train station is in Saumur city centre, seven kilometres from the hotel.

Hotel Features.
Le Prieuré is a former Benedictine priory and features pointed steeples, tall turrets and wrap around terraces with a panoramic view of the Loire and its valley. The building is perched on a rocky headland amid 60 acres of greenery. There is a tennis court and miniature golf facilities and during the summer months guests have use of the heated outdoor swimming pool.

Castellane Restaurant opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Dinner dishes include Raviolis of Scampi with a Truffle Cream Sauce or Cottage Cheese from Anjou with Red Fruits. An outdoor terrace overlooking the river opens during the summer months.

Wireless Internet access is available in the lounges of the hotel.

The hotel offers wine tasting in the cellars, which were dug by hand by the Benedictines monks in the 17th century. Petanque, cycling and racquetball are available on the hotel grounds.

Expert Tip. Visit the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, 25 kilometres away, which is one of the largest and best preserved monasteries in Europe. It features Romanesque architecture. Particularly striking are the four stone figures on the tombs of Henry II Plantagenet, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lionheart and Isabella of Angouleme.

Taxis are available at the airport. A train runs into Saumur train station, seven kilometres from the hotel. The hotel offers transport from the airport for a surcharge.


Getting around. Chenehutte is compact and easily explored on foot. A hire car is recommended for further exploring the Loire valley.
