Built as a customs house in 1658, the Landhotel Altes Zollhaus is a striking half-timbered building set on a ridge in the Erzgebirge mountains, with hiking and cross- country skiing trails running past the door. Suburban rail services link the airport to Dresden main station, from which trams number 9 & 13 run to Dresden Prohlia. From there, bus C goes to Dresden Kauscha on weekdays only. The hotel can also arrange transfers. From the airport, take the A4/E40 towards Leipzig. Close to Dresden city, change onto the A17. At Exit 3, change onto the B170/E55 and then, after 13 kilometres, take the B171 and follow signs for Hermsdorf centre.
