Location.
The ART Hotel Atelier Sul Mare is located in the tiny fishing village of Castel di Tusa on the island of Sicily, Italy. Situated directly on its own private beach, the hotel is one kilometre from the contemporary art park Fiumara d'Arte and 20 kilometres from the shops and amenities in Cefalu. The hotel is 600 metres from Tusa train station.

Hotel Features.
The Art Hotel is an avant- garde, Bauhaus-inspired building overlooking the sea and the marina. Views across the bay are framed by massive picture frames and concrete mazes, while Andy Warhol- style pop art and Timothy Leary-inspired psychedelics adorn the walls. The hotel has a free car park and offers a full range of concierge services including 24- hour reception.

The ART hotel's small, informal restaurant serves distinctive Sicilian dishes and also acts as an unofficial exhibition space. Drinks can be enjoyed on the flower filled terrace to the front of the hotel.

Conference rooms are available for business meetings.

Guests can fish, swim, scuba dive, water ski and windsurf from the hotel beach, while there are opportunities to horse ride, birdwatch and boat nearby. All guests are given a guided tour of the hotel's art rooms.


Guestrooms.
There are 40 rooms built over three floors opening onto balconies with sea views. Standard rooms are typically Mediterranean in style, with white painted walls, bricked archways and blue soft-furnishings. 16 of the 40 rooms have been designed by contemporary artists and offer an holistic artistic experience.


Expert Tip. Fiumara d'Arte literally translates as River of Art, and is an open-air exhibition of contemporary sculpture that takes advantage of the natural landscape. A symbiosis of art and nature, it's not just a great way to experience some culture, but also a chance to explore parts of the area that are off the beaten track.

Distance to ART Hotel Atelier Sul Mare is 100 kilometres, approximately 70 minutes' drive.


Getting there.
Trains run every 20-60 minutes from the airport to Palermo's central station (Stazione Centrale). Single tickets cost 4.50 EUR. A bus runs to Stazione Central and single tickets cost 5 EUR. A train runs from Palermo to Messina and stops at Tusa station on route, which is 600 metres from the hotel. Taxis are available and cost approximately 50 EUR to central Palermo and 150 EUR to the hotel. Prices are all subject to change.


Getting around.
Palermo city centre is compact and best explored on foot. The city and the surrounding areas are served by a network of buses. Tusa itself is easy to negotiate on foot. There is a local bus service, but a car is recommended for exploring more of Sicily.


Driving directions. From the airport, take the A20 PA-ME. Drive until you reach Tusa. Take the SS 113 to Castel di Tusa.
