Built in 1912 the renovated Hotel Bes and Spa is an Alpine-style lodge located on the Italian-French border at the foot of the Chenaillet Massif, nine kilometres from Briançon and 95 kilometres from Turin. The 26 guestrooms are decorated in a characteristic regional style, with colourful decor, patterned fabrics and light fir-wood panelling. All offer minibars, hair dryers, safes, direct-dial telephones, satellite television with pay movies, CD players and high-speed Internet connections. Drinks and meals can be taken at the intimate, candle-lit La Cantina del Bes, where Italian cuisine is fused with Piedmontese and international dishes. The restaurant also offers a wide array of wines and a special flambé menu on request. Driving Directions

The hotel operates an airport shuttle on request. Taxis can be caught at the airport, a typical fare to the hotel costing in the region of 150 EUR. By train, use the Turin-Bussoleno-Bardonecchia line to Oulx station, which is 15 kilometres from the hotel. Shuttles leave from here to Claviere every 30 minutes. The mountainous area around the hotel is ideal for trekking, and so is best explored on foot. Further afield the best way to get around is by rail. Driving directions: From the airport take the A-32 Turin- Bardonecchia-Frejus freeway. Exit at Oulx, and continue on to Cesana Torinese and then to Claviere. Alternatively take the SS 24 Monginevro highway which runs 94 kilometres from Turin to Claviere.
