Location.
The Palazzo Grande is a boutique hotel located in the countryside of Umbria, Italy, 12 kilometres from the town of Perugia and 20 kilometres from Trasimeno lake. The small market town of Corciano is two kilometres away.

Hotel Features.
A converted stately home, the Palazzo Grande is set in 30 hectares of landscaped grounds with olive groves, cherry and walnut trees. A 17th-century villa, the building was once the seat of the Papal Delegate. Rooms are large and airy with vaulted ceilings and exposed brickwork. There is a consecrated chapel and dining room which still has many original features including frescoes.

The Palazzo Grande offers a complimentary buffet breakfast which is served in the dining room. Regional specialities are offered in the separate restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. The chef also caters for larger parties, which can be held in the garden or great hall.

The hotel's outdoor swimming pool has lovely views of the olive groves. There is also a football field, jogging track and gym.


Guestrooms.
The 19 guestrooms are all individual in style, with vaulted ceilings and exposed stonework. Furnished with period fixtures including antique armoires, the rooms have sweeping curtains and sumptuous bedding. Internet access is available and each room has satellite television, a minibar and hydromassage bathtub.


Expert Tip. Perugia is famous for its artisan chocolate, which the town exports around the world. In celebration, a chocolate festival is held every October.

Getting there.
Public buses depart from the airport for Piazza Italia (in the city centre) and the train station at 2.40 p.m., 5.50 p.m., and 9.50 p.m. Single tickets cost approximately 2.60 EUR. Taxis to the city centre cost about 40 EUR. Prices are all subject to change. Alternatively, guests can take a taxi or book the hotel shuttle, which can be requested for a surcharge.


Getting around. Hiring a car is recommended for exploring the Umbrian countryside. Alternatively, the hotel provides a shuttlebus service for a surcharge.
