Location.
The Old Downton Lodge is located in Downton on the Rock, England, within six miles of historic Ludlow, and 50 miles from Worcester.

Hotel Features.
The Old Downton Lodge is a brick-built building set in its own grounds, with Italian-style gardens and uninterrupted views of the Shropshire and Herefordshire hills. The interior features exposed beams, stone-flagged floors, and exposed stone walls. Hotel amenities include limited- hours room service, free parking and laundry and dry- cleaning facilities.

The informal Downton Lodge restaurant features original stone walls, leather-backed oak chairs, and oak dining tables. It serves British dishes, which are made using local produce where possible. Pre-booking is recommended. The hotel offers a complimentary full English breakfast.

Expert Tip. Ludlow is a centre for independent food production, and there is a food festival every September to celebrate this. The festival offers rare breeds of meat, real ale and cider, and locally produced cheeses and breads.

Distance to the Old Downton Lodge is 40 miles, approximately 60 minutes' drive.


Getting there.
The best way to get to the hotel is by car. A taxi to the hotel costs 50 GBP. The nearest train station is Ludlow, which is within five miles. All prices subject to change.


Getting around.
A car is recommended for exploring the area around the hotel and beyond.


Driving directions. From Ludlow, take the A49 towards the Craven Arms. After around two miles, turn left from Bromfield opposite The Clive towards Knighton on the A4113. After about two miles, turn left at the sign for Downton - Old Downton Lodge. Take the country lane for two and a half miles to Downton on the Rock. Turn right at the junction.
