Location.
The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is located in the Langdale valley, in the Lake District, England, about 10 miles from Windermere. One of the more remote valleys in the Lakes, Langdale is surrounded by peaks and fells including England's tallest mountain, Scafell Pike, three miles from the hotel.

Hotel Features.
Set in six acres of landscaped gardens, the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel has panoramic lakeland and mountain views. Built on a former medieval settlement, the hotel has ivy-covered slate walls in typical Lakeland style. The rustic lounge, complete with a log fire, is a great place to relax whilst sipping on one of the Scottish malt whiskeys from the hotel bar.

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel serves a complimentary full English breakfast to guests each morning. The bistro restaurant serves food prepared with local ingredients.

In good weather guests can head outside onto the patio and there is a picnic area. A dry cleaning service is offered at the front desk and complimentary parking is provided.

Expert Tip. Stickle Tarn is a beautiful lake which can be reached via a steep but well marked path in the Langdale valley. More challenging walks lead off from the tarn, but an icy dip in the lake is recommended whether heading further up or back down.

Driving Directions

From Manchester Airport (MAN):
Distance to New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is 70 miles, approximately 100 minutes' drive.


Getting there.
Manchester Airport train station is linked to all terminals by a moving walkway. Every hour, up to six trains leave the airport for Manchester Piccadilly station in central Manchester. A single ticket costs 2.65 GBP, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. From there, trains depart to Windermere. Prices are all subject to change.


Getting around. Hiring a car is strongly recommended as the Lake District is not well served by public transport.
