Location.
The Ellerthwaite Lodge is located in the Lake District village of Windermere, England, 500 metres from the town centre and half a mile from Lake Windermere. Windermere train station is 800 metres away.
Hotel Features.
Situated in a 19th-century hunting lodge, the three-storey traditional family-run bed and breakfast is traditionally decorated, with original features. Ellerthwaite Lodge provides a first- floor television lounge, laundry services and complimentary parking.
A complimentary full-English or continental breakfast is served each morning in two ground-floor breakfast rooms, with bright decor and garden views. Although lunch and dinner are not available, there are a number of local pubs and restaurants offering a choice of dining in the area.
Within five minutes' walk, there is a park with a children's playground, tennis courts, and cricket ground. Bicycles and horses can be hired nearby and boat cruises can be organised at the lake. Golfers will find a golf course and driving range in the vicinity.
Guestrooms.
The 15 guestrooms have pale walls, floral fabrics, and pine furniture. Period features include high ceilings and exposed beams. All rooms have televisions, clock radios, hairdryers and coffee/tea makers.
Expert Tip. Hill Top is the 17th-century cottage where Beatrix Potter brought Jemima Puddle-Duck and Peter Rabbit to life. Many original paintings are on display. Entrance is free to the shop and garden on Thursdays and Fridays when the house is closed. Hill Top is two miles from Ellerthwaite Lodge and Windermere.

Distance to Ellerthwaite Lodge is 90 miles, approximately one hour and twenty minutes' drive.
Getting there.
Manchester Airport train station is linked to all terminals by a moving walkway. The Trans Pennine Express runs to Windermere and takes approximately two hours and thirty minutes. Single tickets cost 17 GBP. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around.
Bicycles are an ideal way to explore the local area. Buses run throughout the Lake District and trains run further afield.
Driving directions. From Manchester Airport: Follow the A61 to the M6. Exit for the A590 at junction 36. Continue on to the A591 until reaching the A5074. Then follow the signs for the hotel.
